Posted on: January 21st, 2009 HDR Images – Lumix TZ5

It’s been a while since i’ve been looking into getting a point and shoot camera… initially I wanted to invest in a real pro camera… but I quickly realized that I wanted was just something simple, that I can capture fun moments with my friends and family… So a friend of mine owned the Lumix TZ5, and he kinda let me play with it for a little while… It turns out to have a bunch of pro features, and it makes this camera a powerful little monster… So I went online and ordered it.

I can say so far I am pleasantly surprised with the quality and clarity of the images, very easy to use, point and shoot or manual. I’m not here to review the camera, there’s plenty of people out there that do a better job at that… but all I can say that so far, I’m very happy with it.

I did an HDR test, using the bracketing feature, here’s the result.

Here’s one of the images used for it… this was the regular exposure shot.

So this is the new piece I started, first i’m going to show you the initial image, which I took from a free site called: stock.xchng, if you haven’t been to this site, and need images, you should really bookmark it. Most of the images are royalty free, and if it’s not for commercial stuff, most of the people are cool letting you use their images – I hope the owner of this picture is one of those people ;)

Anyway, onto the image:

And here’s what i’ve got so far… I plan on continuing to work on the image. Some of the basic stuff i’ve done here is enlarge the eyes a bit, and give it sort of a elf angel look. I’ve als played with saturation levels and color corrections. If if get requests later on, i’ll be more than happy to to a detailed tutorial on how I create these pieces.

Again, onto the image:

DISCLAIMER: I’m not trying to kill this beautiful girl hehehe, this is just a distortion of a simple image to reflect my crazy head ;) Enjoy.

I am a Flash Developer, and I love what I do, but I’ve found myself gravitating to Photoshop often to sort of relax and let my creative juices flow. That’s where the whole Cursing Angel comes from. I started creating weird art pieces that sort of enhanced my creativity and let my experiments with Photoshop and photo manipulation.

Here are some of the pieces i’ve created:

So, feel free to drop your comments, i’m always looking to improve my style, and see what new direction I can take. By the way, i’ve started a new piece, which I will be posting next.

Enjoy!

Posted on: August 8th, 2008 POD x3 Live

So, i have been absent from the blogging world for a few months, between work and my new dog, I’ve been pretty much swamped, but I’m trying to get back to it.

I while back i bought the new POD X3 Live from Line 6, and after playing with it for a few hours, i noticed what a powerful piece of equipment this is, from the quality of the sounds, to the dual tone capabilities, this pedal board has truly surpassed my expectations. The other super cool thing this piece of equipment has is that connectivity with you computer (mac or pc) to edit anything form a simple sound, to the way the expression pedal affects the delay speed. The possibilities are endless.

After playing around with it for a while, i did what most of the people I’ve read about do, go online and look for patches. That sounds fantastic as a theory, but in reality, it’s a little harder than what you’d expect. The problem is the quality of the patches is not always great. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few good ones, like Benvesco who always uploads patches (that actually sound pretty good!). But i guess it’s not enough.

So instead of complaining about it, i decided to do something about it ;) so, I’m going to try and give something back to the community by creating patches and uploading them on a constant basis. For me, the benefit will be to practice! i never spend enough time with this pedal board to really utilize its full potential, not only that, but I’ll have new patches every week, which, as a guitar player, i can’t complain. I don’t expect to be creating other artists patches, but if one of them happen to sound like John Petrucci’s crazy distortions, well, i wouldn’t be disappointed ;)

Anyway, if you’re interested, and have patches that you wanna share, post them here… all patches welcome ;)

I just wanted to how the progress on the sculpture experiment… i basically created more details on the head by adding hair and freckles on the sides. The most obvious improvements were the legs and feet and the arms. I tried adding small details like the little bones on his feet and the collar bones as well… i’m hoping to really define his arms adding some veins and other details. But what i can tell you is that it is definitely a challenge! Especially because i’m not using any tools (sculpting tools)… i’m basically using a flat screwdriver, push pin, some alcohol and my finger ;) it kinda does the job!

Also, i’m learning a lot on the web, especially from this website: http://www.polymerclayfan.com/
Anyways, here are some images…

So a couple of co-workers started sculpting some pretty cool stuff, and i always thought that sculpting would be something i’d be completely into. So, after getting inspired, i went to the nearest Michaels(arts and crafts) and got a bunch of sculpey which is easy to handle and also let’s you bake it for your final piece.

So after a quick brainstorm about what my first piece, i decided to attempt to create a “Troll”. The reason being is because it leaves me a lot of freedom with regards to the “human” form, where i can be off and it’d be ok. Also, i’d love to detail the troll with the muscles and all of the weird they have, like the long nose, big ears, etc. I dunno yet if i’m going to end up painting it, cause i think i’m more interested in the actual shape and sculpting, but who know… it’s all about the joy of doing something cool right? ;)

Here are some pictures of what i’ve done so far, nothing much, but there it is the direction i’m taking:
