So, I’m my class, I always talk about how important preloaders are, and why we should take the time to make innovative preloaders, and entertain the user from the get-go… Most people don’t realize how important these little pieces of art are, in fact, most client don’t want to see a preloader… ugh… However, when preloaders are done right, they can be pretty entertaining… Big Spaceship created a nice little repo of these, and it’s fun to see how much Flash Creatives and Developers have evolved…
Remember, these pieces may soon be a thing of the past with the faster connections and the future of our Digital World…

Someone attending my Flash Class forwarded me this useful resource, just thought i’d shared it with everyone, since it seems pretty useful… It’s basically a way to embed custom fonts into your HTML page. If you didn’t know this, you can only embed a certain group of fonts into you HTML page, well, using this, you’ll be able to apply custom font faces to match your design… This also keeps you from embedding the custom fonts as images… I haven’t tried it yet, but I want to build a test page and implement the code… Thanks Rauno!

Ok, so I found this on Kirupa.com, it’s a complete tutorial on how to build a scrollbar… NOTE: I haven’t tried doing this tutorial myself, so I don’t know the extent of the code, complexity or ease of use. With that said, it seems pretty straight forward, nothing you can’t follow yourself.

Here’s a root growing system I found. Levitated has been known for his amazing engines, utilizing math and logic to create really cool stuff. Check it out:

Remember to take a look at a few sites for tomorrow and bring in the features that you like the most about those sites, we’ll talk about them in the beginning of the class. Also, start thinking about either your banners or your porfolio site. Start coming with ideas for the site.
Here are the source files for the preloader class:

So, for a little while I’ve been teaching Flash for the Miami Ad School, it’s has been a great experience so far, and the students seem to like the class a lot. Hopefully i’m am really teaching something
. So, it’s kinda hard to keep up with both blogs at the same time, and i figured, i want to share my findings with everyone equally so, i’ve decided to merge both blogs.
What this means, is that from time to time, i’ll be posting stuff that is directly related to the Flash Class at MAS. Nothing to earth shattering, but i just wanted to clear that up.
By the same token, i’d like to welcome all of the MAS Students, i hope you like what you find here.
That’s it, nice and simple.

Ok guys, here’s the banner we created in class, you can base your banner’s on the functionality on this one.
Just as a disclaimer, this banner was created with the sole purpose of demonstrating how to build a banner from scratch. This banner is not tied to any campaign that God of War is running. So, for all of you PlayStation 3 people, this is just a sample… not meant for commercial use.
With that said: Banner
